My family and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch while visiting Baltimore. The restaurant was set up like a ship inside and out. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The grilled octopus was a stand out! The fried oyster po'boy was great. There is a kids menu. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Six adults and three kids (gratuity was included for a party of this size). Street parking and a parking lot available.

The food was delicious and the service was superb. Nice place. Came on thanksgiving day and they had lots of traditional options. No blue crab.

We had an excellent dining experience at Captain James. It was the perfect spot for our family of 6, including a restless toddler (he devoured the generous serving of kids spaghetti and meatballs) and someone who doesn't really enjoy seafood (she liked her burger and fries). The hush puppies were hot, fresh and delicious - loved the honey butter. The crab dip with pretzel chips was cheesy & hearty with a good spice level. The halibut special was great. My husband and I split the seafood broiler which was a great way to sample the menu - one scallop, 2 shrimp, crab legs, salmon and crab cakes - even the rice and green beans were tasty. Our service was great - overall, a great experience for a family meal!

I had a nice group dinner here during my visit to Baltimore. I was hoping to try out crab cakes during my trip and Captain James Landing did not disappoint! We came as a large group and I decided to split the captain's signature crab cake with a friend. The crab cake came out with a light crunch on the surface with a wonderful texture on the inside. I appreciated the quantity of meat in the cake. The green beans were also quite tasty. I did find the amount of food on the smaller side considering the price. After observing some other friends' orders, I could see that there were other menu options with more quantity for a similar price. Our server was prompt and very accommodating of our large group. The layout of the restaurant was also a treat with the nautical theme and boat-like windows overlooking the street. This would be a nice spot for anyone wanting to check out some seafood on their visit to Baltimore.

I wanted a lite lunch so had the steamed shrimp Maryland style. Steamed with thinly sliced potatoes, chopped onions and Old Bay. It's got a real kick. My wife had the crab cake. All food was very good. Service was very good. The restaurant is a casual place, they also serve crabs on paper that others are using a mallet to break open so you can get the vibe. I would eat here again. Across the street from the restaurant is their very casual crab house with outdoor tables on the water.

Captain James Landing is a small restaurant and not as packed as Captain James crab house across the street. It was my sister's birthday and we wanted more than just crabs. The food selection is good & every day of the week there's a special item. Today, Wednesday, the special was lobster roll sandwich which was what I chose but substituted chips for waffle fries! My sister chose a seafood platter/sampler with a bit of everything from shrimp, mini crab cakes, etc. Both of our foods were delicious & well seasoned. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we were ok and not needing anything. I had a peach mojito flavor and it was sweetened just the way I like it. For dessert I had a vanilla crème brûlée & my sister had the Oreo cheesecake! The place is clean and not too noisy so we could have a nice conversation without feeling like we had to yell or feel rushed.

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to this restaurant after a long day of shopping. I had been wanting to come to Captain James' Landing for about two years-from the looks of it, it is a welcomed and community staple. When you come to the restaurant, it's shaped like a ship. The inside has a nautical theme to it, with tv screens and chalkboards describing CJL fresh catches of the day and daily specials. Service is top notch, with food that's very affordable and versatile to seafood lovers. It's a great place to get a bite to eat, especially in the summertime!! Menu items to try: crab dip, hushpuppies, surf n turf salad Honorable mention: broiled seafood platter, oysters on the half shell This restaurant is an awesome place in Baltimore to eat in my book! Make reservations ahead of time if you should stop by, with flexible time for finding parking!!

4/13/24 Ship shaped building, hehehe Make reservations!!! We didn't know, so we had to wait. It was our last night in the area, so we opted to wait. Brady was helpful and put us on the list and called us as soon as a table was available. I must praise his patience with all of the rude customers who didn't make reservations and expect him to let them in... Britney was so busy but still made time to check in on us! Summer Storm and Orange Crush Good drinks Grilled Octopus Very good, I could have had this as an entrée Lobster Stuff with Crab Tender lobsters and good crab stuffing Broil Seafood Platter I liked the variety of seafood on this platter. Everything was seasoned well. Next time in the area, I definitely want to visit the landing, which overlooks the river.
